RUCPD Hosts Toddlers CPR and Paediatric First Aid Training

Building Practical Emergency Response Skills to Support Child Safety and Well-Being

When emergencies involve infants and young children, the ability to respond calmly and appropriately can be critical. Developing practical emergency response skills helps create safer environments for children, families and the professionals who care for them.

On 16 and 17 July, the Raffles University Centre of Professional Development (RUCPD) hosted a Toddlers CPR and Paediatric First Aid Training workshop at Raffles American School (RAS). The two-day HRD Corp-claimable programme brought together educators and professionals seeking practical knowledge in paediatric emergency response.

Learning Through Practice

Led by Dr Shamini Kamala Selvaraja, the workshop combined foundational principles with hands-on training, giving participants opportunities to apply emergency response techniques through realistic scenarios.

Participants received practical training in infant and child CPR, choking management, paediatric emergency response, and first aid for common childhood injuries and emergencies, including burns, cuts, allergic reactions, seizures and accidental trauma.

Using professional CPR training models, participants developed practical skills and greater confidence in responding when immediate action is required.

Professional Learning with Impact

For educators, caregivers and professionals working with young children, emergency preparedness plays an important role in creating environments where learning, well-being and safety are equally valued.

Through programmes such as Toddlers CPR and Paediatric First Aid Training, RUCPD continues to provide professional learning that connects practical knowledge with real-world application, supporting individuals and organisations in creating safer environments for the communities they serve.
