University Advancement Camp with KIWU Korea

Raffles University Centre of Professional Development (RUCPD) successfully conducted a 7-day University Advancement Camp for the Department of Advertising Design students from Kyung-in Women’s University, Korea, at Raffles University.

From July 1st to 7th, 2024, ten students and one lecturer from KIWU Korea enjoyed the fun and learning exchange program, aiming to expose them to Malaysian culture and provide valuable industry insights.

A SERIES OF FUN AND LEARN ACTIVITIES

72 HOURS ADVERTISING CHALLENGE WITH GENERATIVE AI

Participants from KIWU took part in a real-case business campaign design project at Raffles University in collaboration with Huawei. During the 72-hour challenge, all participants brainstormed a product for Huawei and developed a campaign targeting the younger generation. This challenge fostered a spirit of collaboration, encouraging students to work with international peers and integrate fresh ideas from the Korean students.

INTERESTING WORKSHOP CONDUCTED BY RAFFLES UNIVERSITY LECTURER

As part of a comprehensive experience, Raffles University also organized a Generative AI workshop and a Presentation Workshop, both conducted by lecturers from Raffles University. Participants were immersed in the effective and ethical use of generative AI to support their studies. Additionally, the Presentation Workshop aimed to improve their presentation skills in English.

EXPLORE THE JOHOR ATTRACTIONS AND CULTURAL IMMERSION
 

KIWU participants explored Johor Bahru’s heritage and multicultural sites, arranged by Tourism Johor (JOTIC). They visited Kompleks Kraf Johor, Kompleks Warisan Sultan Abu Bakar, Yayasan Warisan Johor, Iskandar Puteri, Tan Hiok Nee Heritage Street, Arulmigu Rajamariamman Devasthanam Indian Temple, and Istana Bukit Serene, experiencing Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage.

COMPANY VISITS AND INDUSTRY INSIGHT
Participants visited 99 Studio and Refine Printing for industry insights. At 99 Studio, they explored photography equipment and props, receiving warm hospitality and answers to their questions. At Refine Printing, they learned about printing operations and products, gaining crucial knowledge for advertising designers to meet market demands effectively.
INTERACTION WITH LOCAL MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

During the University Advancement Camp, KIWU participants had the opportunity to interact closely with local students from Raffles University. The local students extended a warm welcome, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. This interaction not only facilitated cultural exchange but also helped build lasting friendships, enriching the overall experience for everyone involved.
